Big Sky, Montana

Big Sky Mountain viewed from The White Wolf Retreat. Januay 2022

As a summer person and a lover of warmth, it took several years for Joey to convince me to go somewhere colder than Missouri/Kentucky in the winter.  After finally convincing me to head to the mountains instead of the beach, however, it only took one snowy evening in a hot tub after a day of hard physical activity to convert me to a skier and establish a yearly tradition of a family ski trip.  The mix of hard physical activity, a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day, snowy mountains, warm hot tubs, and evening drinks by the fire make for a truly satisfying overall experience.  Turns out the warm things are nicer when it’s cold outside.  I am also a firm believer in pushing your kids to overcome their fears and learn to do hard things and skiing is definitely that.

Having been to Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah to ski, we decided to try Montana this year. With a few nice green runs and a plethora of blue groomers, Big Sky was a great fit for our family.  We were also planning this trip with my parents and siblings and were looking to ski somewhere that offered activities other than skiing.  Look for blog posts on pictures, videos, and tips on Skiing Big Sky, Hiking to a frozen Ousel falls, and Snowmobiling in Yellowstone.
